In the late summer of 2020, my wife and I made a decision to begin looking into the possibility of purchasing an "up north" lake cabin as a getaway location for ourselves, as well as for our children and grandchildren. We all live in Central Minnesota. We began the process with a web search, and followed up on a listing we saw posted by Larson Group Real Estate. Upon making a call to Larson Group, the agent linked to the posting was not available and we were asked if we would like to speak with another agent present in the office, Matt Stephens. As that seemed fine to us, we spent the next fifteen minutes or so getting acquainted with Matt and answering some questions for him that allowed him to get a beginning of an understanding of what we thought we were looking for in a lake cabin property. Thus began a nine-month journey involving reviews of many properties with Matt that ended with wonderful lake property and cabin on Tenmile Lake. This journey was long and had its challenges, and my wife and I are so grateful that we got to have Matt available to lead us. His friendliness and genuine interest in what we wanted out of this trip were apparent during that first phone call, as well as in each additional step along the way. Matt consistently kept us appraised of listings that came on the market that seemed to match the criteria we had provided for him. He was always quick to respond to any questions we posed via phone, text, or email. Matt helped us to understand the nature of the "seller's market" we were participating in during our search so that we understood what represented reasonable expectations. He provided valuable assistance when we asked to tap into his experience in completing the negotiation process and eventually arriving at a purchase agreement for our lake cabin property. Matt was there to support us for every step of the process, from that first phone call to closing. He even followed up with us after the closing to see how we were settling into our new lake cabin and whether there were any issues with which he might be able to assist us. Along the way, we came to know Matt not just as an excellent agent but, in our view, our friend as well. From us, he gets five stars (plus) and earned every one of them. Thanks, Matt.

Mary Nolan and the Larson Group were amazing. We purchased our property on Gull Lake from Mary and she did such a great job for us on the purchase and coordinating our new construction in 2012, it was automatic that we would use her when we sold 8 years later. Mary listed, sold, and closed our home sale in 11 days - and the sale included our furniture, two boats, and our docks and lifts. Now you know why we think Mary Nolan is amazing. She was very patient, methodical, and professional at each step of the transaction, from the recommended list price for the home to the estimated value of the personal property, lining up showings, and negotiating the final sale documents and closing. Mary made us feel like we were her only client - which I know wasn't the case. We are thankful we met Mary back in 2012 and that she was there for us in 2020. If we ever wanted another home in the Brainerd Lakes area, Mary would be our first call.

Working with Mike O'Connell was a wonderful experience. We knew we wanted to be near the Crosslake area as our families are there but had a lower budget and no need to be on the actual lake as we were hunting for our 'starter home.' Mike jumped in with both feet for us as I assume he does with all levels of his clientele and it was a smooth experience from day one. He ensured we had a full view of our options, both listed and "likely coming soon" as we made our decisions and offers on homes. Have bought and sold 8 properties and Mike was by far the best agent we have worked with. He did so much more than was expected of him including multiple trips to the property on our behalf to manage our several service providers. Mike also arranged for several contractors to help us estimate repairs. He has a hu8ge network and was able to get highly capable people to our property on short notice. Our purchase took 3 months to negotiate and the seller was extremely emotional and difficult to work with but Mike was cool-headed and consistent throughout. We really enjoyed working with him.
